This group will hold two sub-groups, one for the March 23 slaloms and one for the March 24 giant slaloms. The slalom sub-group will hold galleries for each slalom, by gender. Ditto for the giant slalom sup-group.
It may not be possible for me to photograph the second race each day, depending on schedule.
All images are uploaded in run order, usually in accordance with start lists (assuming no out-of-order starts).
Warnings in advance: My first priority is submitting images to media, so there may be a delay of several days before any given race is fully uploaded. Please be patient. The details for a given gallery will expressly note when uploading is complete for that gallery. Even then, processing for the uploads will not be perfectly optimized, especially for color balance and cropping. In the event of purchase, files will be optimized for color and sharpness and cropping. And shooting conditions, like racing conditions, are not always ideal. Rain and snow can affect image quality.
Also, I take a lot of images, about 4,000-6,000 a day for two races, so selecting the images for processing and uploading takes a while. I usually spend about two hours processing for each hour on the hill. I normally try to upload one or two images for each racer for each run, but sometimes load more if a run was spectacular and a sequence seems justified, or if I simply like a particular image. I will usually include recovery or crash images because they memorialize what happened. I do so knowing the challenges of ski racing, and with sympathy for anyone who has difficulty in a given race. No one has a difficulty-free race career.
I try not to upload any image that could not be viewed at at least 8x12 print or screen size. Most are very sharp and very high quality at 20x30.
Racers in this series are also entitled to download one free digital file from the series in a medium size that will look good at 6x9 at least. Here are the instructions:
Each racer in the WR FIS Devo Series is entitled to download, for free, one digital image from the galleries for the series. The image file will be suitable for high quality about 6x9 viewing on a big screen. How to download your free image file: Go to the series galleries, select one image from one of the galleries click the "buy" button, on the image price list select the FREE FIS FILE option, go to checkout, enter the needed information (name must correspond to race start list), and check out. Use this coupon code: WRFIS2022a to reduce the file price to zero. You will receive a confirming email, and after I approve the order (for image quality and for eligibility for the free download) you will receive instructions how to download the file. A zipped file will be sent to you. It will be sharp at 6x9 on a big screen. Larger than that, "jaggies" will start to appear.
You can always purchase more and larger files per the price list (I donate sales proceeds to the ASC junior program), but if you do be sure to submit a separate order. If you attempt to use the free coupon with a purchase order, it won't work. The larger files can usually, depending on shooting conditions, allow much larger images of very high quality. I use a Canon R3, advanced processing methods, and the resulting image quality is usually very high. You can always email if you have questions about what size to purchase, etc.
IMPORTANT: As of April 4, there have been coupon issues upon checkout. Don't be discouraged.
