Here are all the GS photos from March 29. I could shoot only the first run. Snow flurries and sprinkles and fog made shooting, especially focusing, hard. And didn't do much for racing either. Good work, racers, persevering yet again.

I submitted three photos to the ADN: of Kennedy Kane, Conner Lane, and Ava Liles. The ADN print edition ran the Liles photo.

Why are there more shots of some racers than others? Partly because some of the available quality shots better illustrate great skiing or interesting athletic moves. And often because sometimes there are more sharp, in-focus, high quality shots for one racer than another. I can't usually tell until I get the images on screen of my desktop computer.

The site's "slideshow" function is low resolution. I am shooting very high res images and am uploading (for speed and efficiency) files that are about 2 mB. On screen, even these small files produce images that are much sharper when seen individually. Toggling from one image to another or using the cursor to select a particular photo gives much sharper images than letting the site slideshow feature simply cycle through.

If anyone choses to purchase images, I donate all net proceeds to the Alyeska junior program. The purpose of the galleries is mainly to let racers and parents review and relive and enjoy some athletic moments in the race, not to sell pictures. But if you are interested in purchasing images, I recommend you contact me first. Very important: the lab is very good but it will not permit changing or canceling an order after it is placed. Also, a few photos as edited are not 2:3 aspect ratio (as shot in the camera). Be careful not to order a photo with non-2:3 aspect ratio; contact me first. I haven't set prices for square images (1:1) or a few quasi-panoramas. I will substitute much higher resolution files and re-edited images for orders for large prints. Prints will have the "Bob Eastaugh" watermark in the lower left corner, but the Zenfolio infinity watermark will be deleted.

A few racers have asked about downloading. On a one-off basis, I will sell very small digital files for $10 (adequate for emails) and large digital files for $25 (adequate for 8x12). Email me first; this is not available on line. Payment will be to Glacier Valley Ski Education Foundation (for the juniors). You will be required to approve and return by email a limited license that forbids commercial or political use.
