All of the images of the January 18 slalom are now uploaded.

Photos are arranged in chronological order as taken. The site slideshow feature is low resolution; the best quality viewing resolution is achieved by toggling to individual images.

About 1700 images to review and maybe 900 to edit. Even using Lightroom (the best and most efficient management-editing program) it takes 8-12 hours to edit and upload images from one race. I try to shoot all entrants, but missed a few, including two girls in one of the runs.

Awesome skiing on a difficult surface.

I sent the ADN a photo of Marion Hudry in run one and a shot of Adam Garrigus in run two. The ADN did not use either.

Here are the captions I submitted:

Caption for 7894 (Hudry)

UAA's Marion Hudry had the fastest first run in Sunday's Coca-Cola Holiday Classic slalom. She also had the fastest run on the second course and won the ladies' race by more than 16 seconds. Teammate Miranda Sheely was second. Alyeska Ski Club's Arianna Hall was third. Rock-hard snow caused many errors but is similar to what World Cup skiers usually see.

Caption for 9049 (Garrigus)

Alyeska Mountain looms behind Adam Garrigus as he dives into the final pitch in his second run in Sunday's Coca-Cola Holiday Classic slalom. Garrigus, of Alyeska Ski Club, was the top junior and finished third for the day, behind two UAA racers. UAA's Curtis McKillopp won. Seawolf teammate Hughston Norton was second, 1.73 seconds behind. Garrigus was the top junior, finishing 3.96 seconds behind Norton.

As always, the ADN may or may not run any race photos. Space is usually limited.

Tough racing conditions, and there are a few fall and hike photos. They aren't offered to embarrass racers, but to acknowledge the difficulty of this demanding, but beautiful, sport.

The purpose of the gallery is mainly to let racers and parents review and relive and enjoy some athletic moments in the race, not to sell pictures. But if you are interested in purchasing images, I recommend you contact me first. Very important: the lab will not permit changing or canceling an order after it is placed. Also, a few photos are not 2:3 aspect ratio (as shot in the camera). Be careful not to order a photo with non-2:3 aspect ration; contact me first. I haven't set prices for square images (1:1).

Feel free to email me with any questions or suggestions.

Here is the inlet near Girdwood the morning of the race.
