Normandy; Honfleur, Part 2, 2017

Honfleur swarms with visitors even in late September.  August is unimaginable.  But ignoring the group swarms and the unattached who wander unpredictably along the narrow streets, it is a charming and colorful place.  And stylish, dressed in mid-gray slate roofs and, sometimes, exterior walls.

Reflections rule the Old Harbor and the lock-controlled outer harbor.  A ferris wheel and carousel contribute to striking images even though they don't do much to advance the town's historical message.  The carousel, in any event, is popular with children and adults fatigued from wheeling them over cobbles.

The very good maritime museum is in the old church.

Masts and spires leave rippling reflections.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
