December Sunsets, Part One; Anchorage, 2017

December 21, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

Several days this past week local skies were clear of drops, flakes, and overcast long enough for the sun - already low even at midday - to enflame any remaining clouds and to provide rich sunsets.  The main challenge the first day was finding different vistas in town clear of roofs, brush, or power lines as light faded.  I started low - nearly sea level by Potter Marsh - and moved up as the sun dropped.

And these really were the colors.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
