Auke Bay Moon; Auke Bay, May 21, 2016

Full moon silhouettes a tree above Fritz Cove.  A slight haze radiates out.

The moon is (at least to me) inherently interesting.  Superficially commonplace ("Hey, there's the moon. Again."), it becomes exotic and mysterious once you begin thinking about how alien it really is.

Canon 5DIII with 100-400 IS II lens, plus 1.4 extender; 560mm; 1/15th at f/8; ISO 160.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
