From his first days with us to the end, Leo was invariably loving and content. A fur ball in puppyhood, as an adult he was sturdy and strong -- and big -- until his very last months, despite a cancer diagnosis a year before he went. He returned to Juneau twelve years after birth and was still over 70 pounds within two months of death. But he finally went downhill, losing weight and mobility rapidly at the end, when he could no longer walk or stand unassisted. He never complained.

Leaving us.
Dogs were put on this earth to make us better humans, and finally, to break our hearts.
After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images. They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation. I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill. Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking. I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
