Inlet Winter, Part Three; Anchorage, January 2018

The drive from Girdwood after skiing January 7 confirmed the stark but amazing beauty of Turnagain Arm and Cook Inlet on a cool winter day.  Mountains, clouds lit by the setting sun, atmospheric fireworks, fiery reflections on Inlet water, and grazing sheep near the highway all appeared and impressed yet again.  Proving that Alaskans aren't immune to the Inlet's wonders, at least fifty local drivers (there aren't many tourists at this time of year) were pulled over in most of the turnouts along the highway to watch or take photos.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
