Maui Sunsets; November 2018

December 17, 2018  •  Leave a Comment

Sunsets are Maui's ultimate lightshow.  Like snowflakes, each sunset is unique. As the sun drops toward the horizon and cloud layers move in and out, the sun is alternately revealed, partially and then fully obscured, and then fully revealed again. Each moment seems different and observers are reluctant to turn away.  It is image-rich for casual viewers and photographers alike.  The inevitable human tendency is to keep watching, keep shooting.  Even though reason tell us there will be another incredible display in 24 hours.  And yet another a day later.

These images are Phase One.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
