Catch-Up Notes
Recent travel has delayed new posts for some weeks, but here are a few quick comments about what is most likely to come next.
First, new posts will be coming soon. There will be some illustrated ruminations about photography, specifically about the tension inherent in its approach (whether its rejection or embrace) to "reality."
Second, there will be some comments about how a traveler deals with deciding whether to be a participant in the experience of travel or a visual historian, and whether it matters, and whether a traveler can be both. And maybe even a few suggestions how someone can be both.
Third, it is already early November, which means the World Cup alpine ski season is upon us. Which, it turn, means it is time for me to decide what my role (if any) should be this ski season in photographing ski racing for Alyeska Ski Club. That will determine the text of any link I ask the club to post on its website regarding availability of my race photos this season.

Comments
After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images. They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation. I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill. Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking. I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
