These two captions go with images #15 and #22.

Nora Brand, a Denver University Ski Team junior from Munich, punches the last gate out of her way in her first run in Thursday’s Seawolf Invite FIS-U slalom. She won the two-run race and then won again Friday, in the RMISA FIS-U slalom.

Reaching for speed, UAA junior Leon Nikic stretches out to pull with his ski poles and skate across the finish in the second run in Friday’s RMISA FIS-U slalom on the Tanaka Hill. Thirteenth after his first run, Nikic had the fastest second run, pulling himself into third, only 39/hundreths out of first, behind Utah’s Wilhelm Normannseth.

His third place ended a good week for Nikic: He won the men’s second giant slalom Wednesday and was third in Tuesday’s giant slalom.

I sent the cutlines to the ADN after the second GS. They refer to gallery image #2 and #14.
The captions:

First (Leon from yesterday, very sunlit, full-body shot, first in the order I sent)

Leon Nikic, a UAA Seawolf junior from Toronto, deflects a gate in laying down the fastest second run in a stacked field of elite FIS racers Tuesday in the Seawolf Invite FIS-U giant slalom. Sixth after his first run, his second run moved him into third overall, only half a second out of first and one-one-hundreth out of second.

Leon Nikic, a UAA Seawolf junior from Toronto, crushes the third gate from the finish in his second run, on his way to winning Wednesday’s men’s giant slalom, competing against an elite field of college racers in the Seawolf Invite FIS-U series.

Third (Denver logo on helmet)

Denver University’s Sara Rask, a freshman from Stockholm who, incidentally has competed in 23 World Cups for Sweden, carves through a gate in her second run in Tuesday’s Seawolf Invite FIS-U. First after her first run, Rask was third in the second run, but maintained her lead for the victory.
