This gallery contains the images I sent to the ADN for the Super-G story. It also contains two (Lantz and T. Murphy in right-footed turns in Race 1 on upper Waterfall) that I decided not to send in.

Here are the captions I submitted with the image files to Chris Bieri at the ADN:

I am attaching four photos, with my preferences as noted for the two days of Super-Gs. There are three of the “big” racers (U16 and up, with an option) and one of a “little” racer (a U12).

First choice (for action and story line and graphics) is double U21 and overall winner of both Friday women’s races, Georgia Lantz.

Georgia Lantz tucks cleanly into the Lower Bowl finish line of Alyeska Cup Super-G Race 2, on her way to winning the women’s U21 class and turning in the fastest times in both races Friday. Not far behind Lantz on time in both races were Alyeska Ski Club U16s Avery Reger and Ava Murphy, on a day when fog rolled in and out but did not prevent the races from running on time.

Second choice (two options): Either one of the following two shots. The choice probably depends on the degree of separation of the racer against the background for publication purposes.

Option one (better separation, equivalent story line and drama, similar image quality):

Alyeska Ski Club U18 Tanner Murphy minimizes his air time in launching off the last jump in Alyeska Cup Super-G Race 2 Friday below Alyeska’s Cabbage Patch. Murphy won his class in both races, and had the fastest time of the day in Race 1, despite fog at the top of the Waterfall pitch. In Race 2, he tied for time with U16 teammate Jaxon Murphy (no relation), who won the U16 class in both races.

Option two (background separation might be problematic, great action, drama, equivalent storyline featuring the U16 who tied the U18 for time in Race 2)

High above a course worker, Alyeska Ski Club U16 Jaxon Murphy soars off the last jump close to the finish in Friday’s Alyeska Cup Super-G Race 2 on Alyeska’s Lower Bowl. Murphy won both U16 class races, finished second overall in Race 1, behind U18 winner Tanner Murphy (no relation), and tied the U18 winner on time in Race 2.

Third choice (good action, story line, maybe less drama)

Julien-Didier Stiassny, a first-year U12 skiing for Arctic Valley Ski Team, is launched from the last jump in Alyeska Cup Race 2 for U12 and U14s Thursday on Alyeska’s Lower Bowl course. He won both men’s U12 races and was tenth and sixth overall on time for the day in the two races.
