Leo Two; Anchorage (2003-2016)

Even though he often appeared noble and intelligent, most of the time Leo was mellow, loving, and relatively goofy.   We'll get to loving and goofy eventually, but akin to his noble and intelligent persona was his trait of looking pensive and thoughtful.  Was it truly reflective of what was going on inside his head?  Even doting parents can't ignore reality.  There was little evidence there was much advanced cognition going on under the hood, even though these photos captured what appeared to be deep thinking.  The one situation that might have implied deep thought was his tendency to study for many minutes, very closely it seemed to us, the patterns in Oriental carpets.  Was he trying to solve middle-Eastern mysteries or admiring intricate patterns?  It was a life-long practice and we talked about it a lot.  But he never made it clear to us what he was studying  (or searching for).

Leo could stare at Oriental carpets, moving his head as if executing search patterns, for 15 minutes or more at a time.  As far as we know, he never found what he was looking for.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
