Street Scenes appeal to me. There is something inherently interesting about encountering something, indeed, maybe anything, while wandering through streets with a camera. Human encounters can be interesting, of course, but encounters with structures that seem to have some personality can intrigue, too.
And if the structure is on the other side of a centerline, the distance can add to the structure's presence, just as the centerline itself can add a sense of place, context, and balance. Here is what I mean:
Garage building, the Big Island
Kona Hotel, Holualoa, the Big Island
Church manse, the Big Island
Immaculate Conception, Holualoa, the Big Island
House, the Big Island
Building, Paia, Maui
After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images. They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation. I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill. Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking. I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
