Light and water collaborate in the Cove to create abstract and graphic patterns and reflections that are endlessly mesmerizing, at least for those observers who aren't too busy to be distracted from more essential chores. The variety is infinite. On this day, light from the south lit the Cove's waters from behind. Early rain showers left circular patterned shadows. Later, sine waves, formed by the wakes of a few small boats, rippled through. Still later, a few bright shafts of sunlight squeezed between the clouds. I had intended to separate images of reflections and patterns into several different blogs. That proved futile: it wasn't easy to sort the day's images from the Cove so tidily. Not all Cove reflections are so abstract. Here is the warehouse.

And even less abstract are the reflections of a dock shed and the Lucky.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images. They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation. I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill. Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking. I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
