Halibut Cove Interlude, Part Four (Feathers); August 2018

Eagles and gulls are fascinating, for different reasons.  Eagles for their raw power and the threat explicitly posed by their beaks and talons.  They are the bulked-up body-builders of the bird world.  Muscular, broad wings drive them forward, relentlessly, toward some goal seemingly fixed firmly in mind. Gulls for their grace in flight and for the aesthetics of slender wings and nearly translucent feathers.

Even bulked-up eagles lose their dignity in downpours.  And they don't look happy about it.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
