As the narrator of the old travelogues always used to say, "And now we must leave the colorful Algarve because we must move along and see other parts of Portugal. But first, here are final views of the Algarve's vibrant colors and styles, the product of many cultural influences and the result of Portugal's strong tradition of ceramic tiles and stone mosaics."
On the left, a ceramic shop displays its products; on the right, green tiles cover a Lagos building (while a black-and-white dog traverses a black-and-white street mosaic).

Tiles in Tavira are decorative and narrative, although the narrative that includes both caravelles and a frog isn't obvious.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images. They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation. I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill. Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking. I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
