Moose, Part Three; Anchorage, May 2017

The moose family is still in residence.  They sometimes drift down into the trees to the north, but then return unpredictably, at least per human behavior, and lie about in the taller grass.  They are probably within 100 feet of the house at all times, but often out of sight in the woods.  Had to ride past the browsing mother to go for a bike ride this afternoon.  This morning's photos were taken at point-blank range from the front landing, at the shortest focal length for the telephoto zoom on the camera.      The kids seem alright, pretty stable standing and walking, not too demanding, not yet frisking around, and not straying more than 15 feet from mom.  So far mother is tolerating them patiently, allowing them to nurse whenever they want, and nuzzling and licking them enough to show moose affection.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
