Halibut Cove Fish n' Chips Party, Part Four; August 2017

August 27, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

By breakfast time the otter family had already moved on and the weather had begun improving, just in time to motor back on the Danny J. It had been a very satisfying party the night before and then the otter family put on an entertaining show.  But now it was time to leave.  We hitched a ride to the Saltry with Clem, who might have a future driving for Uber.

After boarding, there was an unusual chance to see a pig being butchered.  You see lots of fish being cleaned in the bay.  Not so many pigs.

Dave inspects the pig.

Leaving the Cove: the usual crossing shots.

Geometric reflections, both hard and soft, chased us during the crossing.

And some less-usual shots, after post-processing to push contrast and color to emphasize texture:

Even the gulls in Homer Harbor couldn't stop talking about the party.

Thanks to Captain Elsa for returning us to Homer.

I'll load more Cove shots from the weekend in a Fish n' Chips Gallery pretty soon and will add the gallery link to each of the four Fish n' Chips posts.

See you next year.

Here, by the way, is a direct link to the gallery showing more images from the weekend: http://bobeastaughimagery.zenfolio.com/p127234732

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
