On the Water; Auke Bay, August 2017

Later, the same day as Beaches, we were on an Allen Marine charity whale watch outing.   Beautiful evening, with a few whales, including one that seemed intent on warning us off (with a "charge" and then deep dive under us), many sea lions, and wheeling gulls.

Flukes only, no breaches, but the sea lions and gulls made up for it.

Repeated shallow rolls directly at us.  This was the start of the deep dive.  False charge?

The deep dive under us.

Auke Bay, Mendenhall Glacier behind.

Motor reflections.

Sea lion and gull heaven.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
