Denali Park Scenes, Part Three (August 2020)

Although water is also elemental, there's a lot more rock and sky than water in the park. Annual precipitation averages only 16 inches at the park headquarters. The Nenana is a significant river, even at low water times, and is a popular rafting venue. But in general the streams and creeks make cameo appearances in the park proper. Here are a few images. Someone eager for a few more park water images will find them in the Water subgallery in my Denali gallery when I finish loading the images there. I'll add a link here when they are available.

The Nenana River moves a lot of water pretty vigorously.  These boils and eddies would make casual rafting interesting, even at low water.

Despite its size, the Nenana is dwarfed by nearby rock.

Shallow and braided streams are scenic; the greener water is deeper.

The Savage River sparkles on a sunny day and its shallows reflect blue sky and clouds and allow stream bed rocks to show their colors.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
