Street Scenes, Part Two; Paris, 2017

December 15, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

Art is where you find it.  Sometimes we find it on the streets in Paris,  and sometimes we find it in the museums.

The first poster (and detail) were in the Marais.  The second two were in the newly reopened Musee National Picasso.

Paris street art can be very powerful, and any surface will do.

But don't bet against Picasso (Musee National Picasso).

Unless you would rather play video games.

Art appreciation begins early in France.

Courbet, famous for other pieces and his politics, also did this fetching goat (also found in the Picasso museum).

The Pompidou had a major Hockney show, but allowed no photos.  But here are two from the steps in the courtyard near the Pompidou:

The first was taken in 2014.  The second was taken at the same location in 2017.  The red from the painted lips is barely still visible.  The people are different, and probably her cell phone is newer than his.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
