Maui - Sand (November 2019)

Of course Maui's beaches, at least the ones that famously attract shoreline people (as opposed to the water people such as surfers and boarders), are mainly sand. You can't ignore the pleasure of walking on Maui's sandy beaches and the tactile sensation each grain of sand's crystalline structure imparts. But for someone trying to preserve the moment, Maui's shoreline sand provides a fine field for the angular graphics of volcanic rock and its shadows.

And the shoreline sand is essential to those who aren't simply walking the beach for pleasure.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
