Water in Maui takes multiple forms, from mist to ocean swells. Maui has fine freshwater waterfalls and pools, but here we're focussing (so to speak) on the ocean as seen from shore, from shore-line froth to rolling walls of green water. The ocean's constant motion can entertain and mesmerize. It can also threaten.
Endlessly entertaining with their variety, riffing on shore-side themes, waves and wavelets roll up the beach and against the shore, sometimes frothing like egg whites and sometimes spreading crystalline, like glass, over sand and the shadows cast as the water refracts sunlight.

The Pacific's big swells carry vast volumes of water surging with kinetic energy. At its most primal, when its waves begin to crest and break, the ocean is vivid green.

Even when they are close to an observer, the waves can be transfused with enticingly vibrant green.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images. They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation. I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill. Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking. I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
