New Snow; March 29, 2017

You can't always get what you want.  Blue skies and perfect light for some fast giant slalom free skiing?  Not today.  Thirty-three inches of new snow in two days at Alyeska, and eight inches of new snow blanketing everything in Anchorage and Girdwood this morning, under gray skies, and more snow falling.  The contrast of very white and very black was too much to pass up.  For these I used Silver Efex Pro II and Lightroom in a custom process.

By the way, the skiing was still good when I got off the lift.

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
