On Course at Last; First Races; Alyeska, January 2019

Finally, after a delayed opening, racing begins locally in the new season with two U16/19 giant slaloms in the Coca-Cola Classic.  As always it was exciting to see how fast and well the field skied, including not just the overall winners, but everyone "down" through first-year U16s.  Special congratulations to Randi Von Wichman (fastest times in all four runs in both races), Kevin Leach (first and second), and Colin Horrigan (first and DNF).  The best thing is the promise of more great racing, all season long.

And for Randi, especially great results after getting tangled in the B-Net webbing the day before in training. (But actually, after the net run, she came right back with a super-fast and clean training run.)

After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images.  They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation.  I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill.  Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking.  I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
