Caught at high shutter speeds, water bends and hangs in sheets as it breaks on the Maui shore. The water appears glass- or ice-like as it forms unlikely columns. The eye unaided cannot see this part of the wave-break; it happens too fast for human perception.
I like seeing something otherwise hidden, but the most intriguing part of this image to me is the jade green color revealed when the afternoon sun, striking from above and behind the wave, shines through it.
Taken with Canon 5D Mark IV, 100-400 IS II lens at 400mm; 1/6400 and f/5.6; ISO 1000.
After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images. They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation. I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill. Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking. I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
