You can't always get what you want. An old friend from law school and his wife made their first trip to Alaska, and I offered to drive them along Turnagain Arm to show them the spectacular views. It rained. Low clouds and flat light. Not many peaks. No sheep or moose or bears or eagles or beluga visible. Even the tidal flats were largely covered and traffic was too dense to pull out on the return to photograph those flats that revealed themselves.
Of course later in the day, when they went to the museum, it cleared. A bright evening and a nice dinner catching up. Fine, fiery sunset. Partial Satisfaction.
But finally, at bedtime, a fiery sunset.
After a lifetime of mainly expressing myself with words, my postings here will mainly rely on images. They will speak for themselves to some extent, but I'll usually add a few comments of explanation. I've taken photographs for decades, since the 1950's, inspired in part by my father's photographic skill. Four years of photo assignments and quality darkroom time eventually gave way to decades of casual and family picture-taking. I re-immersed myself when I left film and turned to digital.
